Canada India Foundation

Satish is the current Chair of Canada India Foundation, which is a public policy advocacy think tank that focuses on the Canadian and the Indian establishments to realize the multiplier effect of enhanced bilateral relations. He has consistently engaged with political decision-makers both at the federal and the provincial levels in Canada and in India to effectively intervene on matters that affect bilateral ties between the two countries.

Satish was actively associated with the ICCC for over a decade, starting as an ordinary member, and gradually working his way up to become a committee member, a director, a Vice President, and then finally becoming the President of the organization in 2011-12. His tenure turned out to be one of the most spectacular in the annals of the four-plus decades-old Chamber’s history. He enhanced the activities of the chamber and expanded its reach.

Some of the initiatives that have been launched during his tenure with the ICCC are:

2011: Satish was part of the core team that organized the biggest convention of the Indian Diaspora in Toronto. The convention—PBDCanada2011—proved to be a turning point for both the Indian Diaspora and the bilateral relations between Canada and India.

2012: Satish was instrumental in forging ties with the City of Markham and the City of Brampton to jointly lead a multi-city trade mission to India in January 2012 which resulted in stupendous successes for the 60 small and medium businesses that participated in the mission.

2012: On behalf of the ICCC, Satish, as its President, accepted the Pravasi Bharatiya Samman Award – India’s highest civilian award for an overseas Indian organisation from the then President of India Smt.Pratibha Patil.
